Duty magistrates will compulsorily visit all exam centers on the day of exam May 4, and district magistrates and police superintendents will personally inspect preparedness.
Kolkata: To make sure the NEET UG exam runs smoothly and securely on May 4, the Ministry of Education is meeting with district magistrates and police superintendents across the country. 550+ cities and 5000+ centers will host the exam.
This extensive planning follows alleged irregularities last year, including paper leak accusations that questioned the exam's fairness. According to PTI sources, the Ministry is implementing a comprehensive strategy. "Repeated meetings have occurred with district magistrates and police superintendents in all states and UTs to facilitate a smooth, fair, and secure NEET UG. District-level coordination committees are fully operational to manage logistics, security, and any crises," a source stated. "Expect multi-layered frisking by district police and NTA-hired security at centers. Confidential materials, like question papers and OMR sheets, will have full police escorts. Surveillance on coaching centers and online platforms is being intensified to prevent organized cheating," the source added.
Facing criticism over suspected malpractices in NEET UG and the NET PhD entrance test, the Centre formed a committee last year to guarantee transparent and fair NTA-conducted exams. NEET UG faced scrutiny for alleged malpractices, while UGC NET was postponed due to information about its compromised integrity. Both cases are currently under CBI investigation. Two other exams, CSIR UGC NET and NEET PG, were postponed as a precaution at the last minute.
